Nature made antlers to be unique one of a kind creations. In keeping with natures plan, I
try to make each piece of antler art a one of a kind. Keep in mind when looking at these
photos that cutting an antler is only about a third of the work. I find I can spend more time
thinking of a concept and designing the pattern and accents then it takes to cut the
antler. Here are some photos of an antler being cut on my scroll saw. I do recommend
using a dust mask while cutting, while antler is not toxic one never knows what is on the
surface of an in the found laying in the woods.
Complete antler after being cut. The
pattern has been removed and some
shading added with various antler
stains. The base is wood covered with
moose hide and has a mule deer antler
on it to support the moose antler.
Note the various sandbags used to stabilize
the antler while cutting.
This picture is for reference only I recommend
wearing  respiratory protection.
